8/19/2005 - Vikings Win the Big One!
|
You know what that means.
|
|
8/10/2005 - Going to the show!!!
|
In the neighborhood surrounding Southwest Park, the Viking horn could be heard.
It was blown to ward off evil spirits and warn the Marlins of their presence.
The Vikings came to the game fired up and took an early lead by scoring two runs in the top
of the first on a two out hit by Gurgul. After giving up one unearned run, the Vikings extended their
lead in the top of the 7th with a two out hit by Nishibayashi. Baig pitched another complete game against the
Marlins giving up no earned runs. After another exciting series the Vikings advance to the championship series
against the Black Sox at Grosche Field. See you there.

7/31/2005 - Vikings Win First Round of Playoffs!
|
The Vikings played outstanding defense only making two
errors in two playoff victories against the Braves. Saturday, the Vikings won 3-2 with Kaz Baig
pitching a complete game. On Sunday, the Vikings won 4-3 in 8 innings. The
winning won was drove in by Kaz Baig with two outs in the bottom of the eighth
after being intentionally hit by a pitch in an earlier at bat. Adam Cohen got the complete game win.

6/28/2005 - Yankees, Why are you so quiet?
|
The Vikings were in control of this game early. I've never seen this happen before, but
the umpire had two homeruns in one game. Thanks Ricky!

6/26/2005 - Vikings Drop One to the Browns
|
We look forward to the tie breaker.

6/23/2005 - Vikings Slide Past Electrons
|
Whew...That was a close one.
|
|
6/19/2005 - Vikings Cool Off Hot Marlins with AC
|
The Vikings ended the Marlins win streak. It was a close game the whole way through.
The Vikings split it wide open scoring 8 runs in the top of the seventh inning. Next up the Aviators and Electrons.

5/26/2005 - Vikings Vs. Aviators
|
Whatever...
|
|
5/24/2005 - Vikings Beat Marlins
|
In a 6 inning game that was shortened by darkness, the Vikings pulled off another win to move to 3-0.
Kaz Baig got the complete game win, but this win goes to the team. The Vikings play impeccable defense
only making 1 error. The Vikings' offense did a very good job playing small ball. Runners where bunted
around the bases and drove in on hits and sacrifice flies. Next game - the Aviators. See you there.

|
5/22/2005 - Vikings Neutralize Electrons
|
It has been said that during the 20th century, man harnessed the "power of the atom." On this day,
the Electrons felt the "power of Adam". In his first start of the season, Adam Cohen
got the complete game win with 10 strike outs. He also hit a long solo home run to center field
to cap off the Vikings 6-2 win. Rookie, Bill Rowan strapped on the catcher's equipment and did a superb
job catching for Cohen. Without the correct protective equipment, Rowan used a make-shift cup made
out of an old shoe. Jason J. had a great day at the plate going 2 for 2, with 2 walks, and 2
RBIs.

|
5/15/2005 - Opening Day!
|
The Vikings spent most of the opening day nail biter down, but not out. The Rangers scored 4
runs on just 4 hits and led the game 4-2 with two outs in the bottom of the 7th. With men on
second and third, Sampson Leff doubled in the gap to tie the game and push it to extra innings.
The game ended with Tim Moyes getting the winning RBI on a walk with the bases loaded. We still
think he could have leaned into a pitch and taken one for the team and the win! But none the less,
the Vikings pulled out a close one on opening day. One down 26 to go. Kaz Baig got the complete
game win, striking out 11 batters in 8 innings pitched.

5/1/2005 - Hail to the Vikings!
|
This weekend the Vikings played two practice games.
Saturday the Vikings squared off against the Browns.
Both teams showed off their south-paw talent with 4 of 6 pitchers throwing lefty.
Sunday, the Yankees came to Taft for a pre-season showdown. To stick with the theme from the Browns game,
the Vikings started the game with a left hander at second base and short stop (gotta love the pre-season).
The Yankees’ offense did not give the Vikings defense the pre-season challenge they were looking for.
The Yankees struggled at the plate only chalking up one hit.
The Vikings hit much better than the previous day but the weather is the real story from Sunday.
There was some sun, some rain, and for about thirty seconds...Hail!
It didn’t feel like baseball weather but the season is just around the corner. Can’t Wait!
|
4/10/2005 - Congratulations to Coach Loy!
|
After missing practice and spending all morning in the hospital,
Coach Loy exclaims, "The kid is not mine, he's got a full head of hair."
Now I know what you are all thinking; Another Loy? Well...maybe this one will be a pitcher.
In all seriousness, congratulations to Chris and Kristin on your new baby boy. His name is Christopher. He is 10lbs 1oz and
21.5 inches.
